Allman Brothers Band - Instant Live, Fox Theatre, Atlanta, GA 9/26/04
Many people wondered how the band would top Saturday’s Fox show, but the ABB was up to the challenge. The first set featured 5 songs over ten minutes long, including top-notch versions of “Desdemona” and “Hoochie Coochie Man,” plus Warren finishing off a magnificent “Dreams” trifecta. “Stormy Monday” shows why Gregg Allman is the greatest blues singer alive. Keyboard master Rob Barraco adds immensely to fantastic takes on “The Same Thing” and “Liz Reed,” Oteil plays a beautiful tribute to Ray Charles in his bass solo, and a thunderous “Whipping Post” brings the Fox run to an earthshaking climax!
