Jimi gave an inspired, eighty-five minute performance at the Dane County Memorial
Coliseum in Madison, Wisconsin.
There were many highlights on this evening, including "Red House", which made its 1970 tour
debut. "Machine Gun" and "Message To Love", both part of Jimi's recently issued Band Of
Gypsys, were well performed and received enthusiastically by an audience estimated at
5,000. Jimi expanded his comments prefacing "Machine Gun", dedicating the performance not
only to the soldiers in Milwaukee, Madison, Chicago, and in Viet Nam but also those in
Cambodia. The United States had entered Cambodia in the days prior to the concert and Jimi
found a way through his music--in his own inimitable manner--to make his feelings known to
his audience.
