Comments: Three things make this show worth having: (1) There are not very many recordings available from the "Backless" 1979 tour; (2) This is a particularly good-quality recording considering the era; and (3) Muddy Waters (who opened for EC on this tour) sits in for the encore. The performance itself is not particularly noteworthy, although this tour features different arrangements of many of the commonly performed songs (i.e. "Crossroads"); however, the jam with Muddy at the end makes this a keeper.
The recording is very enjoyable; fidelity is very consistent with many of the 1970s JEMS recordings (Zeppelin, The Who, etc.) although there is a little more crowd interference than is found on many of their tapes. Considering the petite file size, this should be worth the d/l for even casual EC fans.
