Cuttlefish Trivia:

- The cuttlefish isn't actually a fish, it's a mollusk

- The original “India Ink” used in fountain pens before the biro was invented was ink from cuttlefish collected in the Indian Ocean.

- The genus of the cuttlefish, "sepia", also denotes the color of the ink derived from the cuttlefish, which can vary from almost black to a reddish brown depending on concentration.

- The origin of the word cuttlefish can be found in the old English term cudele, itself derived in the 1400s from the Norwegian koddi (tentacle) and the Middle German kudel (pouch), a literal description of the cephalopod's shape.
